Using Pattern of On-Off Routers and Links and Router Delays to Protect Network-on-Chip Intellectual Property

Intellectual Property (IP) reuse is a well known practice in chip design processes. Nowadays, network-on-chips (NoCs) are increasingly used as IP and sold by various vendors to be integrated multiprocessor system-on-chip (MPSoC). However, exposes the theft, an attacker can launch stealing attacks against NoC IPs. With growing adoption of MPSoC, such result huge financial losses. In this article, we propose four protection techniques using fingerprint embedding: ON-OFF router-based fingerprinting (ORF), link-based (OLF), Router delay-based (RTDF), Row (RWDF). ORF OLF use patterns routers links, respectively, while RTDF RWDF router delays embed fingerprints. We show that all our proposed require much less hardware overhead compared existing security solution (square spiral routing) also provide better from removal masking attacks. particular, between 40.75% 48.43% area solution. solutions do not affect normal packet latency hence degrade performance.
